Case Study: Fitzgerald Woodlands House Hotel
We deployed ResourceKraft’s energy monitoring system in our hotel in January 2010. This system highlighted the many areas where we could make savings. We cannot control utility price increases. What we can control is our use and the costs associated with that. We can now clearly see where and when the energy is being used and it has raised energy awareness among staff throughout the whole hotel. I would recommend this system to any company that needs to address their energy consumption and hence reduce their energy costs’. David Fitzgerald, General Manager, Woodlands Hotel, Adare, Co Limerick
The Fitzgerald Woodlands House Hotel in Limerick is owned and managed by the Fitzgerald Family. This hotel in Adare features a modern spacious indoor heated swimming pool and the State-of the-Art Revas Spa, one of the most popular Spa Hotels in Limerick.
The hotel produces part of its heat and energy requirement through a “Combined heat and power system, CHP” on site which is run on natural gas. The hotel spends on average €140k – €145k on electricity alone each year.
In December 2009 a ResourceKraft Advisor Energy Cost Control system which was installed by their onsite electrician. The following four major main circuits are monitored the Main Incomer, Kitchen, Spa, Leisure and Restaurant. The installation process took a total of 1 1⁄2 man days and required no down time. The system is due to be expanded in the hotel later this year.
Prior to the installation of ResourceKraft’s Advisor Energy Cost Control system The Woodlands could only establish their overall usage once a month when their utility bills arrived. They can now see clearly where and when the energy is being used. ResourceKraft have provided software product training to both Conor and David Fitzgerald and to members of staff from each part of the four main areas of the hotel that are monitored.
