We have yet to see how these rises will be applied to business customers.

As it happens, our marketing communications folks were just about to issue a mailshot saying something like “Your business energy bills could rise by 20% this year”. We didn’t realise it might become so true so quickly.

While admittedly rises like this do help us here in ResourceKraft (as a provider of energy management systems), this will cause immense pain to some of our UK-based customers.

Quite apart from the imminent pain to businesses in the UK, some years ago I personally marketed the Electrisave home energy monitoring device to home users. To be honest it was a challenging sell back then. However, rises like this will serve to drive even relatively undisciplined domestic consumers towards basic energy management practices. In a typical home, a basic “lights out” policy coupled with a baseload check using a simple and accurate monitoring device like the Saveometer should produce a real return on investment.
